Nidek OCT — Retinal Imaging with Micron Precision
Our Nidek Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system delivers high-resolution, cross-sectional imaging of all retinal layers — enabling non-invasive diagnosis of macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, glaucomatous optic nerve damage, and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thinning.
OCT imaging is essential for monitoring treatment response in patients receiving intravitreal injections, tracking glaucoma progression, and guiding surgical planning. Our system provides spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT) with automatic segmentation and trend analysis — giving our specialists precise, reproducible data at every visit.

B-Scan Ultrasound — Seeing Through Dense Opacities
B-Scan ultrasonography is an indispensable diagnostic tool when the view to the posterior segment of the eye is obscured — by dense cataracts, vitreous hemorrhage, or corneal opacities. Our high-resolution B-Scan system provides detailed real-time imaging of the vitreous, retina, choroid, and optic nerve — enabling accurate diagnosis even when direct visualisation is impossible.
B-Scan is routinely used at Netra Jyoti Kendra for pre-operative assessment in dense cataracts (to rule out retinal detachment before surgery), evaluation of intraocular tumours, assessment of vitreous haemorrhage, and detection of posterior staphyloma in high myopes.

Pentacam — Complete Corneal Mapping for LASIK and Keratoconus
The Pentacam / corneal topography system at Netra Jyoti Kendra provides comprehensive three-dimensional mapping of the entire cornea — front and back surfaces. This is a critical tool for LASIK pre-operative screening, detecting early keratoconus, planning corneal transplants (DALK, DSEK), and evaluating patients for ICL surgery.
Using Scheimpflug imaging technology, our system captures over 100,000 elevation points across the cornea in a single 2-second scan — generating detailed maps of corneal curvature, pachymetry (thickness), elevation, and higher-order aberrations. No patient undergoes LASIK or refractive surgery at NJK without a thorough Pentacam evaluation.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy — The Gold Standard for Dry Eye Disease
Dry Eye Disease (DED) is one of the most prevalent and under-treated ocular conditions — affecting millions of Indians who spend prolonged hours on screens, in air-conditioned environments, or following LASIK surgery. The root cause in the majority of cases is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) — a blockage of the oil-secreting glands on the eyelid margins that leads to rapid tear evaporation and chronic ocular discomfort.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is the most advanced, evidence-based treatment for evaporative dry eye caused by MGD. IPL uses precisely calibrated pulses of broad-spectrum light to target the abnormal blood vessels (telangiectasia) along the eyelid margins that fuel inflammation — the primary driver of MGD. Heat from the light pulses also liquefies inspissated (hardened) meibum within blocked glands, restoring normal oil secretion and stabilising the tear film.
At Netra Jyoti Kendra, IPL therapy is delivered as a structured protocol of 4 sessions over 3 months, with most patients experiencing significant, lasting relief from symptoms including burning, grittiness, watering, blurred vision, and screen intolerance.
